In my work the most important elements are the perspectives of perception (phenomenology), the relation of light and movement and the optical illusion .
In my graphic art the blind embossing technique forms the basis.
The repetition of the embossing in the white etching paper together with the collage applied later, forms a continuously play of light and movement.
Just like in the graphic art the reliefs and wall sculptures arise from graphic (reflective) thinking. The optical illusion acquires an extra three-dimensional meaning.
The observer discovers again and again new ways in the work and is invited to have an exploring look. Due to the subtle play of natural light influences and the changing viewpoint of the observer, the work is constantly changing. Planes appear and dissappear, color reflections light up and dim, a space is constructed and released again.
This endless play of light and movement continues to fascinate me.
