Education: After studying pedagogy and a bachelor in Textile Techniques (teacher) I studied Art History at the University of Leiden. I’ve lived in the Netherlands all my live, near the seaside.
In my work I use fibres or textile for material, but also the technique of weaving interacting with shape can be an important starting point; the softness of the textile, which in combination with the strict geometric shapes and the uniformity of the art, form a whole.
I love the combination of art and technology, where contributions of both technology and design have an equal share and together form a whole.
My current works feature multiple layers of weaved fabric at the same time; these layers cross each other and are connected to each other. By cutting into he layers the next layer become visible and the incisions give the work spaciousness.
Create order, omit the superfluous, aesthetics and planning are key elements in my work. From the ratio I try to approach life; it seems like a form of survival in a world of chaos and emotion.
